Weekend

A most wonderful day.

Went with Sam and Geneva and Judy to the Norvell Slater Hymn Sing at Dallas Baptist University. As we drive onto the campus, beauty was every where. The buildings all look like they had just been moved in from Williamsburg, VA. The campus is clean and the flowers are out of this world. Then we enter the NEW Pilgrim Chapel...unbelievable beauty...the entrance was lovely anti bellum style. We were met by the grand daughter of Joanne and Bill. Such a lovely young lady. We were directed to our front row seats...you see we were there to help honor Geneva for her years of service as organist in various capacities on the campus. The program began with an organ, piano, organ/piano concert. As we listened to such great music we absorbed the beautiful organ and its pipes, the stained glass windows, the scripture verses on the beams overhead, the seating (which looked like church pews but the seats were plush theater seats). The program began with pledges and songs as we did them in VBS days, continued with quartet music, presentations, and with hymns interspersed through out the entire program. After the program, there was a reception in another beautiful room overlooking a lake, with carpet on the floor patterned after the carpeting in the White House in Washington DC.

After we arrived back in Mesquite, Judy and I continued on to meet another group for dinner and a play. Enjoyed the dinner and fellowship with those friends. The play was not one of our favorites.

Arrived home to fall into the bed for a great night's sleep.

Senior Adult Luncheon at our church.

Each year the youth of our church honor the senior adults with a luncheon and a program.

Well, I do believe this year was the best. Good food, good entertainment. The youth were at their best. Our new Youth Minister was wonderful!

This afternoon has been a fairly lazy afternoon.

Well it is off to another night of sleep.
